Description
The limestone soil of zinnkoepflé characterises this hillside, which receives little rainfall. It is protected by the Petit and Grand Ballon which prevent the clouds from raining over it. This gives the wine intense aromas of ripe fruit (apricot, mirabelle plums) and delicate flowers. This sunny and sweat wine (thanks to the over-ripeness of the grapes at harvest time) has a spicy finish (cinnamon and cloves).
Drink it cool in moderation, kept cool in an ice bucket.
Ageing potential: 10 years or more.
Food and Wine pairing
This Grand Cru can be enjoyed on its own, as well as with dry cheeses (old Comté, mature Gouda, Parmesan,...) and desserts.
