Description
This cuvée was created at the birth of Elise, Materne's first granddaughter. He had been hoping for a boy, who was due at the end of October, but Elise was born on 12 November 1987. The Pinot Gris harvested that day was timed between a traditional and a late harvest.
We continue this tradition today, but since 2013, we harvest this nectar in October, due to global warming.
Our Pinot Gris Cuvée Elise, with the Confrérie St Etienne logo, is made from a selection of plots of land from the clay-limestone soil of the Graenwiller area, old vines. On the nose, as on the palate, it reveals a real basket of yellow-fleshed fruits (apricots, yellow peaches, mirabelle plums). An ambitious, complex and very promising wine.
To be drunk chilled but not excessively, preferably cooled in an ice bucket.
Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years, or more with good storage conditions.
Food and Wine pairing
Concentrated, powerful and fresh, this wine will evaluate your aperitifs, your refined starters, the foie gras of Alsace, but will also be perfect with cheeses and exotic desserts.
